Meals & around the house
Meal prep, dishes, laundry, and light housekeeping — the chores that pile up when getting around is harder than it used to be.
I’m Sharon Brown, an independent caregiver offering non-medical, in-home help for seniors and for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) — the everyday support that makes staying home easier, safer, and less lonely.
When you reach out, you talk directly with me. No agency, no rotating strangers — one person who gets to know you and your family.
For older adults who want to stay in their own home — and for families who need a reliable hand during the day, after work, or while they take a break.
Patient, respectful, non-medical support for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities — focused on routine, confidence, and independence at home and in the community.
Most care isn’t medical — it’s meals on the table, a tidy home, a ride on time, and good company.

Just outside this area? Ask anyway — if I can make the drive work, I will.
I am an independent caregiver, not a home-health agency. I do not provide nursing or skilled medical services — no wound care, injections, IVs, or medical treatment. If your loved one needs medical care, I’m happy to work alongside the professionals who provide it.
No. I’m an independent caregiver. You hire me directly, you always know who is coming to your home, and there are no agency fees on top of the hourly rate.
Private pay only — families pay me directly. I do not bill Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, or Medicaid waiver programs.
No — all care is non-medical: companionship, meal prep, light housekeeping and laundry, rides and errands, bathing and dressing help, and medication reminders. That includes non-medical daily-living support for adults with IDD.
Seniors who need everyday help at home, and adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities who need daily-living support — in Gary, Hammond, Highland, Merrillville, Crown Point, and Portage.
We have a short conversation about needs, schedule, and fit. If it feels right for both of us, we agree on days and times and care begins at home.
